We welcome applications from external students to join our Sixth Form. Taster Days are available during the year and we hold an Open Event during the Lent term.
Academic ability is assessed at age 16 by means of GCSE results, an interview and references from applicants' secondary schools. Entry to the Sixth Form usually takes place at age 16, following on from GCSE studies. Entry at other times is subject to places being available and a student meeting the relevant entry criteria for their chosen subjects.
A student will need to have obtained a minimum of six GCSE 'passes' (grade C or above) and at least an A in subjects that they wish to continue from GCSE to A Level. A grade B is sometimes considered if students have shown particular commitment and an aptitude to succeed in the subject area. In the case of subjects which have not been taken at GCSE, other relevant subjects will be taken into account.
Application forms can be requested via the School Reception or via Seniors and Sixth Form Admissions.
On receipt of an application form, students are invited to attend a Taster Day based around their chosen subjects, followed by an interview with the Headmaster. The Taster Day is an excellent opportunity to experience life in the Sixth Form, meet other students and confirm subject choices. If successful at this stage, students will be offered a place to study in our Sixth Form.
Places are reserved in the Sixth Form upon receipt of the Reservation Form and Reservation Fee (£300). The Reservation Fee will be refunded to parents on the completion of their child's education with us. We ask that parents respond with their intentions within two weeks of an offer being issued.
A range of bursaries and scholarships are available to students in the Sixth Form. Further details are available here; Scholarships and Bursaries.
