In April 2011, Birkenhead School Nursery achieved 'Health Promoting Early Years Status.' This was in recognition of our knowledge and application in Personal Social Education, healthy eating, physical activity and active play and emotional health and well-being.
The School Nurse
Our School Nurse, Debbie Cox, oversees all medical matters and is available on site daily to advise staff and support families. The School Nurse aims to meet the identified and potential needs of all our children.
Parents can contact the School Nurse on 0151 651 3089, term time only 8.30am – 4.00pm
Our dedicated nursery chef prepares and cooks breakfasts, hot cooked lunches and teas for our children. Menus are nutritionally balanced and, with everything made on the premises, specific diets and allergies are easily accommodated.
We talk to you about your child’s home-time sleep routine. We hope to maintain as much consistency as possible. For those children who do not require a daytime rest, quiet activities will continue as normal away from sleeping children.
Nappies and changing-products are provided by the Nursery. Your child’s Key Person will be responsible for your child’s regular nappy changing. As your child begins to show an awareness of bladder and bowel urges they will be supported in using the potty and then the toilet. This is a very important step towards your child’s independence. Our aim is that all Nursery children are toilet-trained before they enter the Pre-Prep, so we work together with this aim in mind.
