Jeffrey Archer Visits Birkenhead School

On 29th October, Birkenhead School and Linghams Booksellers in Heswall welcomed novelist and former politician, Lord Jeffrey Archer, to the Wirral to talk about his new book ‘Heads You Win’.


Boumphrey Lecture Series – Mrs Parry-Jones - Round the World Clipper Yacht Race

On Wednesday 17th October, pupils in Years 5 and 6 enjoyed another instalment from their Boumphrey Lecture Series and this time, they heard from Seniors biology teacher, Mrs Parry-Jones, all about her thrilling ocean adventures, as she took part in this year’s Round the World Clipper Yacht Race.


Williamson Private View and Exhibition

On Wednesday 17th October, ‘The Sea’, an exhibition of work by GCSE Fine Art students, hung alongside pieces from the permanent collection of The Williamson Art Gallery, opened with a busy Private View attended by over 130 people.

Year 6 Commemorate 100 Years Since End of WWI with Visit to Trinity with Palm Grove Church

On Wednesday 10th October, Year 6 visited Trinity with Palm Grove Church to experience a fascinating and interactive event to commemorate 100 years since the end of World War 1.

On Thursday 4th October, it was National Poetry Day and the topic this year was Change.


Nicholls Lecture Series - Dr Adam Boddison OB

On 28th September, Dr Adam Boddison, an Old Birkonian and Chief Executive for Nasen, addressed ‘The Truth About Inclusion’ to the Sixth Form. Through the use of statistics and examples from his personal experience, Dr Boddison presented the issue of inclusion and exclusion in the education system, from styles of teaching to standardised testing and its implications for those with special educational needs.


Chris Riddell Visit

On 24th September, we were delighted to welcome, award-winning British illustrator and writer of children’s books, Chris Riddell.
