- The Shooting Team, captained by Petty Officer Qaisar, enjoyed success
and nationally, taking several prizes at Bisley last July and in the County
of Lancashire Competition at Altcar this Spring. Corporal Swift achieved
excellent results individually and in the pairs, and PO Qaisar and Cadet
Ince will be sponsored by the National Rifle Association to compete at
Bisley this summer.
- A team of junior cadets entered the North West Brigade CCF Competition
at St Bees School under the leadership of Corporal Walsby-Tickle. Cadets and
staff took the opportunity to experience flying in a Puma helicopter. Two
teams also achieved creditable results across a number of disciplines in the
Cadet Competition at Welbeck College.
- A number of training field days and visits to military units were held.
Summer camps in 2006 were at Penhale in Cornwall and at RAF Leeming in
Yorkshire. RAF cadets also attended camp during Easter 2007 at RAF Brampton
and cadets from all sections took part in a weekend camp at Swynnerton.
Cadet Cattrell attended a Royal Navy Hydrographic Course in Plymouth.
- Drum Major Lawrence led the cadet band, which included Corporal
Collingwood and Cadets Attwood and Williams, which gained recognition as the
best in the Lord Mayor’s Parade in Liverpool. They also participated in the
Falklands War Memorial Parade.
- Following an introductory course of instruction in Southport, Royal Navy
cadets have been sailing at West Kirby Marina on summer parade nights. RAF
Cadets, Sergeant Morris and Corporal Woollacott, were awarded Gliding
Scholarships and Corporal Thelwell and PO Qaisar will be attending the
Leadership Course at the Cadet Training Centre, Frimley Park.
- The Ben Ferguson Trophy for Best Cadet has this year been awarded to
Sergeant Lander.
