- 20 pupils from the Sixth Form entered the UK Senior Mathematical
Challenge Competition: 11 won certificates. Billy Woods, David Parkes, Lewis
Robinson and Martin Ince won Gold certificates and Samuel Power, Siôn Owen,
Adam Mitchell, Jonathon Ng and Samih Qaisar won Silver.
- Billy Woods was invited to take part in the Senior Mathematical Olympiad
where he won a Certificate of Distinction.
- 26 pupils in Year 10 and 26 pupils in Year 11 entered the UK
Intermediate Mathematical Challenge Competition; 10 from Year 10 were
awarded Bronze certificates, 8 were awarded Silver certificates and Ryan
Catahan won a Gold certificate. In Year 11, 8 were awarded Bronze
certificates, 7 were awarded Silver certificates and Robert Mathew-Jones,
Gautham Srinivasan and Douglas Sharpe won Gold certificates. Robert
Mathew-Jones was subsequently invited to participate in the IMOK Olympiad
Competition.
- 50 Year 8 pupils entered the UK Junior Mathematical Challenge: 12 were
awarded Bronze certificates, 12 were awarded Silver certificates and Adam
Snee, David Boffey, Andrew Hoyland, James Moses, Alex Macaulay and Andrew
White won Gold certificates. Adam Snee was invited to take part in the
Junior Mathematical Olympiad. Winners of the Silver certificates were James
Green, Oliver Subhedar, Thomas Dodds, Sparsh Garg, Benjamin Berkson, Ammar
Ahmed, Samuel Good, Shaun Wilbraham, Bruno de Blaquière Charlie Straw,
Ciaran Anderson and Tom Williams. Winners of the Bronze certificates were:
Curtis Wright, Alex Davies, Jack Bowe, Jack Granby, Christopher Halliday,
James Ralston, Joshua Black, Ben Cornford, Elliot Smith, Samuel Corlett and
Matt Smith.
- Jean-Paul Donnelly, David Duncan, Jack Granby and Andrew Hoyland
represented the School in the regional final of the UK Team Mathematics
Challenge at Liverpool University and finished 9th out of the 42 teams from
the North West schools taking part.
- A number of pupils from Year 10 entered the Liverpool Mathematical
Society’s Senior Challenge Competition. Nicholas Downward won third prize
and Matthew Chadwick won a consolation prize.
- A group of students from the Sixth Form attended the Liverpool
Mathematical Society’s Lecture at the University entitled ‘Dissecting a
Circle’. Another group attended the Annual Sixth Form Lecture of the
Institute of Mathematics and its Applications at Manchester Grammar School
entitled ‘The Mathematics of Juggling’
