- Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Examinations:
December 2006: 14 candidates – 11 Merits, 3 Passes, 0 Fails
April 2007: 24 candidates – 2 Distinctions, 5 Merits, 17 Passes, 0 Fails
- Prior to the beginning of the School year, the Chapel Choir were
resident for a week at Sarum College, Salisbury. They sang the daily
services in Salisbury Cathedral in the absence of the Cathedral Choir.
- 7 boys from the BPS and 1 from another school auditioned and were
formally admitted to the Chapel Choir in September. The Chapel Choir settled
in to prepared music for the Sunday services, Advent Carol Service, the
Services of Nine Lessons and Carols and the Midnight Eucharist on Christmas
Eve, at which 10 former choir members, now at university or beyond, also
sang.
- An Autumn Concert was held in the Michaelmas Term, involving the String
Orchestra, Inter-Schools Brass Ensemble, Big Band, Prep Choir and Orchestra
and the “SuperStrings” groups. The Choral Society concert took place in
December at the Philharmonic Hall featuring Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, sung
by a choir of over 200 with the Liverpool Sinfonia and soloists from the
Royal Northern College of Music.
- During the Lent Term the Big Band played for a “Wear a Hat” day in aid
of Age Concern in Hamilton Square, opened by Patricia Routledge and
supported by Frank Field. The Spring School Concert was held in March. About
70 pupils took part from Senior School. In April, the Big Band and other
School musicians took part in a “Jazz Evening” in Bushell Hall.
- In the summer holiday 2007, Chapel Choir embarks upon a concert tour to
the Czech Republic including singing Mass in St Vitus Cathedral, Prague, and
concerts in Karlovy Vary and Teplice.
- Senior Full colours were awarded to Michael Russell, Patrick Anstey, and
Adam Punzano
Senior Half Colours were awarded to: Matthew Thomas and Thomas Walker
Junior Full Colours were awarded to William Marshall
Junior Half Colours were awarded to Richard Kalayi, Michalis Migos and James
Sherman
