- In our first season our team finished 12th on the final event, out of 23
school teams.
- Our first race was at Eastham Country Park. Felix Dawes was 1st on the
Yellow course, gaining maximum point for the team, and Zach Jones came 2nd.
Everyone else successfully completed their courses with no
disqualifications!
- Sherdley Park followed, with a strong performance from Tom Atherton on
the White course. Ben Mansfield, our captain, achieved top position on the
Orange Course at Pettypool, and so inspiring the rest of the team. Harry
McGee & James Laing also did particularly well at this event as they
finished in the top 20 out of 64 runners on their course.
- At Sefton Park., Oliver George put in a very impressive performance by
winning the White course on his first ever competition. John Warburton came
6th overall. Colomendy produced strong performances from every runner
(particularly Tom Swift, our new member of the squad), providing valuable
points to once again push us ahead in the Schools’ rankings.
- In Event 6, held at Formby Dunes, Edward George, from Year 5, impressed
us all by winning the White course in his first ever orienteering run!
- In May, the Relay Events were held at Arrowe Park., where the squad won
three silver medals.
- The final results at the end of the season were:
Merseyside & Cheshire League School ranking: 12th (of 23)
- Individual achievements:
• Primary: Edward George: first at event 5
• Year 7: Tom Atherton: first at event 2, Oliver George: first at event 4
• Year 8: Harry McGee: certificate after 5 successful runs.
• Year 9: Zach Jones & Felix Dawes: silver medal and certificate. Half
Junior colours.
• Year 13: Ben Mansfield: silver medal. Captain. Half colours.
