- The strength of School rugby lay with the Junior sides this season. Both
the Under 12’s and Under 13’s lost only two games and the Under 14’s
remained unbeaten until November. The Under 15’s enjoyed a successful run in
the Daily Mail Under 15 Cup, a national competition attracting more than 600
entrants. They lost to Merchant Taylors’ in the North West semi-final, which
placed them in the top 32 teams in the country.
- All Junior sides undertook end of season tours: 72 boys from Years 7 & 8
undertook a three day tour to London. The U12 A & B teams played against
Langley Park School and in Richmond Park against Rosslyn Park Rugby Club.
The U13 A & B teams played Langley Park School and then travelled to Ealing
to play against the reigning county club champions. The trip included a tour
of the Twickenham Stadium and Museum and watching ‘The Grudge Match’ – a
replay of the 1995 Cup Final between Leicester Tigers and Bath at Welford
Road, Leicester.
- The U14 and U15 teams toured Ireland with matches in Belfast and Boyne,
winning both matches.
- The 1st XV lost several matches by less than one score. There were
notable victories against Cheadle Hulme G.S., Hutton G.S. and local rivals
Caldy Grange G.S.
- Full colours were re-awarded to Ben Davies, Alastair Greenfield and
