Gala Concert raises £10,500.
The
School is delighted to announce that the Gala Charity Carol Concert held in the
Philharmonic Hall last December raised a grand total of £10,500 for Claire House
Children's Hospice. The Senior Fundraiser from Claire House, Margaret Davis,
visited the campus on Monday to be presented with the cheque by the Headmaster.
While on her visit, Margaret spoke to pupils during School Assembly about the work Claire House does. Claire House is a children's hospice which aims to care for terminally ill children and their families across North West England, North Wales and the Isle of Man. It relies fully on the generosity of the community as it receives no Government funding. The Charity Concert, performed by Birkenhead High School Choir, Birkenhead School Chapel Choir, BPS Choir and Birkenhead Choral Society, accompanied by the Liverpool Sinfonia was a great success and filled the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool.
Birkenhead School has supported Claire House since its opening in 1999, and also raises money for Clatterbridge Cancer Research and St John's Hospice. Mrs Davies thanked all the choristers and musicians involved, the Director of Music, Graham Ellis and Michael Hudson for all their hard work in ensuring the success of the evening
