By the end of their time at Birkenhead School we hope, and expect, that each pupil will be a more fluent and discerning independent reader, a more confident writer and will have the ability to communicate and listen to others with maturity. Most importantly, as teachers of English we hope that we will have inculcated an enjoyment of reading and an appreciation of literature in our pupils
