Birkenhead School entered two teams into the local round of the Rotary International ‘Youth Speaks to Nations’ Competition, held at Birkenhead Sixth Form College on January 15th.

After a welcome from Mr David Caldow, President of Birkenhead Rotary Club, the debating started in earnest. Tom Roden chaired, and Josh Corlett and David Duncan spoke on the issue of Underage Gambling. Later Antash Daryanani took the chair whilst Nicholas Hearn and Harry Machray expounded on the theme of Animal Rights.

Wirral Grammar School for Girls emerged victorious, intriguingly speaking on the subject of The Number 13, which obviously proved a lucky number on this occasion. Our congratulations go to them, together with best wishes for the next round at Theatr Clwyd, Mold, on 2nd February.
