Exchange with IES Universidad Laboral in Caceres, Extremadura
For news of our Exchanges, including photographs, click on the links on the left.
Our partner school is a 1000 strong, mixed school with excellent facilities, including its own indoor swimming pool. There is a small boarding element as the school’s reputation draws pupils from far afield as well as from Cáceres itself. The staff, pupils and parents are extremely friendly and relations with Birkenhead School, which date back 9 years, are excellent.
The town is in the west of Spain, in a region called Extremadura, and has a wealth of historical interest. The magnificent walled Old Town is officially recognised as a “World Heritage Site”, and is one of the best preserved medieval quarters in Europe.
A feature of this scheme is the considerable classroom time prior to the exchange devoted to preparing students in both countries for active participation in an exciting project with their partners.
The scheme can
include even those beginning Spanish, who work on simple things like directions
around town, as well as offering excellent opportunities to all levels through
to Sixth Form to improve their linguistic and cultural knowledge in a fun way.
