Crikey!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Especially in the Sports Hall where
the 55th Annual Christmas Bazaar was held on the 17th
November this year. The moment you entered the hall you were bombarded with
Christmas sights, sounds and smells, with bright lights and decorations
everywhere. The sweet smell of the mince pies at the refreshments stall fill
your nostrils as Christmas music rings out over the noise of the crowd, a
jangling cacophony of Christmassy delight. All of this before you have even
walked through the door!
There was a wide range of stalls and activities. The scouts, cubs and beavers had stalls in the prep gym alongside the giant bouncy castle and in the Sports Hall there was the Café Noel supplying the masses with festive cuisine! Other delights included the toy stall, book stall and a range of other unusual, nay, exotic stalls including Persian rugs and the mugs from Young Enterprise. There was also a chocolate fountain (truly scrumptious) which received huge business! The highlight for us had to be the face painting. The three artistes deserve awards for their excellent talents; indeed, one tiger face caused children to flee in panic.(only joking)
The Bazaar was once again a great success and we can hardly wait ‘til next year’s.
A huge Birkenhead School thank you goes out to Yvonne Hazlehurst, Yvonne Attwood and our own Kelvin Britton, and it is indeed hard to imagine that this was Sheila Brew’s last Bazaar because she has played such a vital role in the planning of this pre-Christmas Jamboree for as long as any of us can remember. We hope she knows how grateful we are to her!
Now let’s show our appreciation in the usual way.....
