On Tuesday 3 July a number of colleagues joined Headmaster John Clark in welcoming back Anne Jackson to plant a tree on School Campus in memory of her late husband Mike.
Mike
taught French and Spanish at the school for thirty-three years (1963-1996). When
K Block was officially opened in October 1973, Mike was quick to notice that
there were possibilities for the improvement of the appearance of the grounds in
the immediate vicinity. In 1974 it was decided that activities other than the
CCF should be encouraged on Thursday afternoons and Mike offered to lead a group
of dedicated pupils who, over the next few years, worked hard to create beds
around the lawn and plant attractive shrubs and flowers which have delighted the
eye ever since. Our campus has always been an asset of which we are justly
proud. The work Mike and his team did during the 70's played no small a part in
creating a very visually attractive environment very close to important teaching
areas.
