Hitting The High Notes

Sam Edwards (trombone) and Charlie McCulloch celebrate their success with a swing!Young musicians really know the score.

It was success all round for Birkenhead School musicians in the last round of ABRSM examinations. From Grade 1 Piano to Grade 7 Eb Horn, ten candidates passed eleven examinations.

Rewarded with a merit were:  Patrick Anstey: Grade 7 Eb Horn; Sam Davies: Grade 5 Piano and Grade 5 Clarinet; Sam Edwards: Grade 4 Trombone; Lawrence Freeman: Grade 1 Piano; Nicholas Gill: Grade 3 Clarinet; James Green: Grade 5 Saxophone; Jamie Russell: Grade 2 Saxophone.

Passes were awarded to: Harvey Fowler-Williams: Grade 3 Clarinet; Charles McCulloch: Grade 3 Saxophone; Oliver Subhedar: Grade 4 Flute.

All this shows that instrumental music is buoyant in School, and bodes well for the Swing Band!
