Maestro Gives Thumbs Up to School Steinway
Vladimir Ashkenazy Plays in Bushell Hall
It’s
not often that one of the paramount musicians of the post-war era comes to
school, but when the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra came for one of
their regular rehearsals they brought Vladimir Ashkenazy with them. Maestro
Ashkenazy was guest conductor, and politely asked whether he could borrow the
Bushell Hall Steinway for some private practice.
Having played the piano for several hours over two days, he commented: ‘I want this piano, it is a very fine piano,and in very good condition. You can tell that it is played, but not abused.’
