An Original Piece of Madness
You have a limited opportunity to witness this year’s Theatre Studies AS Practical. Because of the unusual nature of the performance, only 12 audience members can attend each performance. Featuring a stark white set, and strong ambient music, Untitled explores the limit of monologue as a theatrical form. As the audience are gradually sucked into a world of delusion and insanity, they may well ask how eight cheerful students hit upon such a challenging theme. Well, The obsession comes partly from Yerma, by Garcia Lorca, which is a set text. Add to that design elements inspired by Frantic Assembly, and the extremes of monologue from Pool: No Water, and you can see how this year’s course has definitely registered on the course members.
If you are keen to see a performance, ask a member of the Company set for an invitation. You will be one of only 48 people to see this controversial and demanding exercise in minimalism.
