Oliver George from Year 8
Writes...........Two weeks into term we got on a bus and set off for the
Frontier Centre in Northampton. It was true that we needed a break: we had been
having to get up at 7 o'clock!. On the bus we got bored, until we had a DVD put
on; we had to wait 20 minutes for it! The DVD was called Benchwarmers and it was
funny (although we couldn't hear it very well). We stopped off at the services
on the way for a toilet break.
When we finally got there, there was a huge disappointment. We'd been beaten by
Mr Armstrong on the minibus). There was a welcome talk after lunch. Then we had
our first activity. We were split into 5 groups and each group did a different
activity.
We did 4 half-day activities overall (one on the first and last day and two on
the second). The activities were canoeing, archery (where we did a competition
and played games), problem games (where we solved problems) and high ropes where
we did high activities. We had fun doing all the activities. In the canoeing we
got wet. Surprisingly we got wet doing the problem games and it wasn't because
of the weather. We had to make a ball rise out of a tube with holes in by
blocking the holes, but people kept on running away. We failed and got a bucket
of water on our head.
After the first activity we were told our rooms. After we had made our beds we
went to have dinner. The food was edible!
After dinner was playtime and on the second day we went to an adventure
playground. Then it was time for the tuck shop.
Each night there was a choice of two DVDs to watch. There was even the Liverpool
game on the second night. Of course we had to go to bed. That was the worst
part. Bed time wasn't too early - only 10 o'clock. Breakfast was good too. There
was cereal, toast and a drink. Lunch was also tasty and we got a cookie after.
Overall the trip was good and thank you to the teachers for making it happen.
