Not open for debate!

For the first time since 2000, a Birkenhead School Team won the Liverpool and Merseyside Regional Final of the English Speaking Union’s Speaking Competition. 

In the photograph (L to R) Arran Byers (Year 10) chaired his session and won the award for the best chairman of the competition, Matthew Rogers (Year 11) spoke on parental responsibilities for their children’s behaviour and Josh Jones (Year 11) questioned the speaker from another team who spoke on surveillance in modern society.  

The members of the team were awarded a certificate and £15 each, as well as a magnificent silver cup which they will take it in turn to put on their mantelpieces for the next 12 months!
