Alex T Smith, award-winning children's illustrator and author, visited the Prep to talk to children in Years 2 to 4 as part of the School's wider World Book Day activities.

We were delighted to welcome Alex T Smith to the School on Friday 5th March as part of our World Book Day Week activities in conjunction with Linghams Booksellers in Heswall.

Alex is the creater of the CLAUDE series that appears on Disney Junior and we were extremely lucky to be part of Alex's busy schedule last week that included being a guest at 10 Downing Street and appearing on Blue Peter the night before his visit.

Alex enthralled, enthused and entertained the audience with stories from his childhood, including his Grandad Sid, and shared his own love of drawing from such a young age.

During the talk, the audience (adults included!), were shown how to draw their own 'CLAUDE' step by step. It was a delight to see them listen so attently and then be so excited with their own creations.

Alex instilled the belief of 'drawing with confidence' and it's exciting to think that our latest #InspiringTalksSeries event may have ignited a love of drawing that may last a lifetime - and who knows - one or more of them may become an illustrator themselves in the future.

Alex is the latest speaker in the School's Inspiring Talks Series.  Recent guests have included Kate Humble, Jeffrey Archer, First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Philip Jones, Sir Tony Robinson and Clare Balding. To read more about the series please click here.
