Year 6 enjoyed a visit to the Imperial War Museum to support their History classroom work.

By Daisy, Frances and Amelia, 6T

On Thursday 2nd December, Year 6 travelled by bus to the Imperial War Musuem in Manchester. It took a long time to get there because the motorway was busy with traffic. However, this did not bother us as we were having a great time chatting, playing games and talking about what we would see at the museum.

An hour and a half later, we pulled into the carpark of the museum. Eagerly, we disembarked the bus and quickly made our way through the entrance doors.  Mr Stockdale gave us a questionnaire to fill out whilst we explored. We studied information on boards and in display cabinets.
Our favourite parts of the museum included:

  • Seeing an actual piece of The Twin Towers that collapsed in 2001
  • A picture show projected on to the walls about WWII
  • Experiencing the terrible stenches from the war (including sweaty socks!)

As a Year group, we learned so much about the horrors of war and about the brave people who fought and contributed.  Overall, it was a highly enjoyable trip.
