2018

  • 53 students sat 171 subjects
  • 26% of students achieved A grades and above in all their subjects
  • 14% of grades were A* and 48% at A* or A
  • 77% of grades were A* to B
  • 91% of grades were A* to C

2017

  • 56 candidates sat 174 A Level subjects
  • Overall percentage pass rate was 100%
  • 9% of grades were A* and 39% at A* or A
  • 69% of grades were A* to B
  • 90% of grades were A* to C 

2016

  •  50 candidates sat 159 A Level subjects
  •  Overall percentage pass rate was 100%
  •  25% of grades were A* and 54% at A*/A
  •  88% of grades were A* to B
  •  97% of grades were A* to C
  • 34% of students were awarded A* or A in all A Levels
  •  43% of students achieved a minimum of AAB including at least two facilitating subjects
  •  Average UCAS points per A Level entry was 113

GCSE Results

We are delighted that the 2018 GCSE results at Birkenhead School continue to show excellent academic strength, with many significant individual successes. With almost all GCSE courses now reflecting the increased academic rigour and demands on students, our top grade percentage maintains our position as a leading academic school.

2018 Headlines:

  • 22% of grades at Grade 9.
  • 3 students achieved all Grade 9’s – only 732 achieved this nationally.
  • 41% of all grades were at an A* standard (Grades 8 or 9 in the new system)
  • 51% of girls grades were at an A* standard (Grades 8 or 9 in the new system)
