14 February 2024

Friday 9th February saw the fourth Apprenticeship Breakfast, to round off National Apprenticeship Week in school.

By Mrs Fountain, Internship and Apprenticeship Adviser and Teacher

During the week, students from Year 10 upwards had spent time in PHSE learning more about apprenticeships and how they may be a good alternative to University. It is pleasing to see a lot of reporting in the media over the week about the benefits of apprenticeships and it is certainly a route we encourage our students to consider.

At 8am on Friday, students got the opportunity to meet apprentices and employers from a range of organisations and chat to them about their experiences. Many of the apprentices were OBs, keen to come back to give advice to our current students. The apprentices were undertaking training in a range of roles including Data Analysis, Finance, Software Engineering, Police Officer, Chemical Engineering, Laboratory Science, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying and Real Estate Management.

Hopefully the apprentices had the opportunity to eat breakfast in between chatting to our students, who were asking lots of questions! I am very grateful to Auger Engineering, Trustland Construction, Argyle North West Construction, PWC, Unilever, Merseyside Police, Redrow Homes, Unilever, Allsop and AMF Engineering for supporting the event.
