Senior Music Performances
Please watch the video below which showcases the brilliant musical performances from events including our Christmas Concert, Birkonian Week and Festival of Music.
Bands and Orchestras
There are three large Senior School ensembles:
- Concert Band
- Orchestra
- Big Band
In addition, there is an award-winning Brass Ensemble which is run by the School’s visiting Brass Tutor.
Other smaller ensemble groups meet, such as the:
- Saxophone Quartet
- Clarinet Ensemble
- Trombone Ensemble
- Flute Ensembles
- Folk Band
- Guitar Ensemble
- Ukulele Club
Students who receive instrumental tuition, both within School and externally, are encouraged to join one or more groups as soon as they are able as this is an important aspect of their musical development.
Choirs
Senior Choir
Senior Choir is a mixed voice choir that includes students and staff and membership is open to all without audition. Rehearsals take place once a week. As well as promoting the joy of singing, the mixed choir prepares a repertoire for School concerts and has also taken part in concerts in the Philharmonic Hall, both in its own right and as part of the larger chorus.
Chapel Choir
The School’s Chapel Choir is perhaps unique amongst independent day schools. Choristers perform what is essentially a cathedral repertoire. The Chapel Choir community is an enjoyable part of School life withtrips, visits and performances, where students from Prep, Seniors and the Sixth Form perform together as musical equals.
