Trips & Visits

To enhance the learning inside the classroom, we offer students a range of trips and visits throughout the year to support and enhance the learning undertaken in the classroom.

Below are some examples of where students in Seniors have had the opportunity to visit:



In October 2019, students from Birkenhead School went on an educational visit to Florida. There was a 'Business Masters' group and a 'Forensics' group. The trip included visits to NASA's Kennedy Space Centre, 'Wonderworks' and Universal Studios. There was also a chance to meet TV Meteorologist Amy Sweezey.

Namibia & South Africa – Rugby Tour  


In July 2019, a group of students and staff enjoyed a trip of a lifetime to Namibia and South Africa as part of this year's Sports Tour. Read more about some of the many highlights from Mr Rule who helped organise this year's tour.

South Africa


A group of Seniors students from the School Hockey and Netball teams visited South Africa in July 2018 and played matches in Johannesbury, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town.

Battlefields Trip, France


In July 2018, teachers and students stayed near Lille in France and had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history of the First World War.  The group visited a number of sites on the Somme, the scene of the infamous battle of 1916 where almost 20,000 British and Empire troops lost their lives.

NASA, Houston, Texas


In February 2017, a group of twenty students from Years 8 to 11 took part in STEM Sisters trip to the John Space Center in Houston.  During the trip they met astronaut, Ken Cameron, as well as taking part in challenges such as building a 3D Martian habitat, scuba diving, building rockets and cryogenic design, construction and testing.  The trip was truly out of this world for the girls who had the opportunity to go.

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research


In April 2018, students travelled to Geneva to visit CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research.  

Ski Trip to Canada


In March 2017, forty students from Seniors jetted off to Canada for a week of skiing and activities in the beautiful Marmot Basic region of Jasper, Alberta.
