GCSE (Years 9 to 11)

Year 9 Curriculum


In Year 9, students study nine core subjects and select an additional four subjects to study. Students start to work towards GCSEs and iGCSEs in Year 9.

Core Subjects

 
Biology Geography Physical Education & Games
Chemistry History Physics
English Mathematics Religious Education


Options

In addition, students will select four of the following subjects, of which at least one will be a Modern Foreign Language:

Art Information Technology & Coding
Computing Latin
Design & Technology Music
Drama Spanish
French  

 

Years 10 & 11 Curriculum

 

Core Subjects

Biology English Literature
Chemistry Mathematics
English Language Physics


Options

In addition, students will select four of the following subjects, of which at least one will be a Modern Foreign Language:

Art Information Technology & CodingLatin
Design & Technology (Systems) Latin
Drama Music
French Physical Education & Games
Geography Religious Studies
History Spanish


In Year 11, students’ study programmes will be reviewed based on academic performance to date and predicted success at GCSE.  

English
Almost all students will study English Language and Literature at GCSE.  A small number of students may study English Language only - for example those who have English as a second language.

Maths     
Further Mathematics GCSE will be taken by students who are advanced mathematicians. 

Science   
The majority of students will study three separate sciences whilst some take the GCSE Dual Award in Science.
