Saturday 29th Feb & Sunday 1st March
Girls 1st XII Lacrosse National Schools Tournament
The team reached the quarterfinals, losing one, winning two games and drawing one.
MVP of the tournament - Ellie Simpson.
The team and support staff travelled down on the Friday in preparation of the event but woke to the news that Saturday's play had been cancelled because of waterlogged pitches, but Sunday was still planning to go ahead. The team made the most of the situation enjoyed a training session, cinema trip and evening meal together, before getting an early night. With no Saturday group matches the competition organisers used last year’s results and placed the team in division two for the morning group games and possible afternoon knock out games. Miss Jones, Miss Walsh and Mr Fowles want to commend the team, with the constant changes and uncertainty they always had a sunny disposition and where a pleasure to be with. The girls reached the quarterfinals, losing one, winning two games and drawing one. It was cruel to not progress to the semis after a draw, not progressing on goal difference.

Wednesday 4th March
Year 6 Rossall Rugby 7s Tournament
A very competitive group saw Birkenhead perform very well. Good wins against Merchant Taylors, Cheadle Hulme and Buchan from the Isle of Man combined with a loss against eventual winners Kirkham saw us through to main competition semi final against Stonyhurst. Unfortunately, in a game that could have gone either way, we lost narrowly 2 tries to one. A promising start to the 7s season though.
Thursday 5th March
Year 6 Sisters in Sport North of England Netball Competition
Year 6 girls took part in Netball tournament at Stockport Grammar. 2 wins and 2 defeats in a strong group, saw Birkenhead qualify for the quarter finals. Sadly, came up against a very strong Bromsgrove team and were eliminated at this stage. Good day had by all though.
Friday 28th Feb (not reported previous week)
Year 5 Football Tournament at Manchester City.
Great day had by all including meeting a couple of first team players. Played very well, won their group and semi final but unfortunately lost a final that could have gone either way 1 – 0.
