Our annual Sports Tours are a highlight of the school year taking our students from the Birkenhead School sports field to locations such as South Africa, Canada and Sri Lanka.
During the tours the students play netball, hockey, football and netball matches against local schools and visit local charities and attractions to broaden outlooks and spark passions and interests.
In July 2024 a group of students travelled to Sri Lanka for the School’s Cricket Tour. The group travelled around the island combining cricket matches with seeing the many highlights that Sri Lanka has to offer.
The sports tour saw students spend 2 weeks in South Africa in July 2023 taking part in netball, hockey, football and netball matches. The students visited Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town where they took in the local culture as well as visits to a water park, Door of Hope charity and an elephant sanctuary and the highlight of watching the Netball World Cup.
In July 2022, 27 rugby players and staff travelled to Canada for a two-week rugby tour. The itinerary included a number of matches against local teams as well as a visit to the CN Tower in Toronto to do the Edgewalk Experience, a trip to the Waterpark and Canada’s Wonderland and a hike to Blue Mountains and much more.
In February 2025, our rugby players went on their first Rugby Tour to Bath. They were flag bearers at an U20s fixture at the Rec, played against grassroots teams, visited Farleigh House and had specialist 7s training sessions with Thomas Page, as well as much more. A fantastic opportunity for the #TeamBirkenhead players.
