In Prep, Drama provides a platform for creativity, self-expression, and the development of young talent, while building self-confidence. Pupils are offered a range of performance opportunities throughout their time in Prep, allowing them to explore and showcase their creative abilities.
In Little School, children participate in the annual Christmas and summer performances, where they showcase their singing talents to an audience of friends and family. These events are always a highlight of the year, offering a memorable experience for the children.
In Juniors, Drama is introduced into lessons in Years 5 and 6 with Drama lessons forming part of the School curriculum. These lessons aim to develop skills such as concentration, speaking and listening, sharing ideas, working cooperatively in groups and appreciating each other’s work.
Form assemblies also offer each class from 3 upwards, the opportunity to put on a performance for pupils and family members.
Each year, children from Year 6 perform a large-scale musical production. The whole year group is involved and there are three evening performances. The annual production is a highlight in the School calendar and sees exceptional performances from talented pupils. Pupils from Senior School support the production by taking on technical roles, performing in the band or helping with stage make-up.
Drama Clubs are available through the wider Co-Curricular programme of Clubs and Activities and children have the opportunity, should they wish, to work towards LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) qualifications as an optional extra.
