Music at Birkenhead School is lively, varied, and, most importantly, fun! There is an ever-growing range of choirs, bands, orchestras and other ensembles to cater for all tastes and abilities.
Music plays a very important role in life in the Prep.
Sport
Sport
We believe that taking part in sports is important for the health and vitality of our pupils and that it instils good practices and behaviours to support a healthy and active lifestyle in the years ahead. The student also benefit from the use of the wider School’s Sports facilities during games and PE lessons including astro-turf facilities at McAllester Field.
In Prep, our pupils are given a wide breadth of sporting opportunities within curriculum time and outside of school hours. Access to all Senior School facilities is fully utilised in addition to specialist teaching from our senior staff.

Drama
Drama within the Prep offers opportunities for creativity and expression as well as the nurturing of young talent and the development of self-confidence. There are a wide variety of different performance opportunities throughout the Prep.

To enhance the learning inside the classroom, we offer pupils a range of trips and visits throughout the year to support and enhance the learning undertaken in the classroom.
Clubs and Activities
Clubs and Activities
We have an extensive range of co-curricular clubs on offer to our Prep students from Reception upwards. We firmly believe that every child should find their niche whilst at Birkenhead School whether that be a love of classical Greek, a passion for chess or adoration for anime.
The clubs take place before school, during lunchtime or after school and great enjoyment and fun is had by all whilst learning new skills delivered by our own dedicated staff.

Our Inspiring Talks Series sees leading professionals within their respective fields visit the School to talk to students.
In recent years, Prep have welcomed speakers such as Konnie Huq, Commonwealth Boxing Champion, former England footballer and BBC Radio Presenter, Stacey Copeland, and children’s authors Donna David and Anna James.
