Travel to award-winning independent school made easy

Birkenhead School — named North West Independent Secondary School of the Year 2025 by The Sunday Times — has announced an exciting new initiative offering free transport for Liverpool-based students, making it easier than ever for families across the region to access its outstanding education.

Located just 15 minutes from Liverpool city centre, and with more families than ever from South Liverpool choosing Birkenhead School, the School is ensuring that families across the Mersey can easily access its exceptional education and wide-ranging opportunities.

From September, free transport on the School’s bespoke bus services will be provided for all primary pupils for the duration of their primary education in Prep, ensuring a smooth and supportive start to their educational journey. In addition, new entrants joining Birkenhead School into Seniors (Year 7 to Upper Sixth) will benefit from a year of free transport.

Currently, the School operates two dedicated bus services serving South Liverpool, offering a convenient and safe daily journey for pupils. With demand for places continuing to grow, this initiative further strengthens Birkenhead School’s commitment to supporting Liverpool families and broadening access to its exceptional provision.

Average journey time for many of our existing students from South Liverpool is just over 30 minutes. We encourage families to come and join many of our existing families who use our bespoke Liverpool travel network each day. This initiative builds on our established provision and highlights our ongoing commitment to accessibility and convenience.”
