We believe that the early years of a child’s education lay the foundations for a successful and rewarding life, and it is during these years where we look to truly inspire and engender a love of learning.
We also understand that choosing the right school for your child is an important decision and we invite you to visit to find out what we can offer your family and what difference an independent education may make to your child’s education.
Welcome from Mr FitzHerbert, Head of Prep
Hear from Mr FitzHerbert, Head of Prep, about the opportunities available and what makes Prep a special place for your child to start their educational journey.
We welcome enquiries for places to join the Prep throughout the year but advise that early application is strongly encouraged.
Entry points into Prep
- Reception Entry: In the September after a child turns 4
- Infants: Years 1 or 2
- Juniors: Year 3 upwards (for children aged 7 plus)
We welcome enquiries and applications for all age groups and it is possible for children to join in different year groups, during the year, subject to places being available.
We hold Open Events at different points during the year and these are an excellent opportunity to speak to staff and pupils about the wide range of opportunities available at the School and see what sets the School apart from other schools within the area.
We welcome visits to the School throughout the year and can organise a time for you and your family to visit the School and have a tour of our setting and meet Mr FitzHerbert, Head of Prep.
Play & Learn Days - Reception
Play & Learn Days / Taster Days
We invite children who are looking at starting in Reception to a Play and Learn session. During the fun sessions they spend time with other children, meet teachers and see how they enjoy being at the School.
Taster Days – Years 1 to 6
Children applying for places in Years 1 to 6 are invited to attend a Taster Day to experience a day at the School. During the day, children take part in lessons and co-curricular activities such as sports and music, and the day is tailored for each child. We look to make the day an enjoyable experience with lots of fun.
Whilst no preparation is required for the Taster Day, children will be asked to complete short assessments in Mathematics, English, Reading and Spelling. These are completed alongside a teacher and we aim to make the process as informal as possible.
If applying for a place in Years 1 to 6, references are requested from a child’s current school.
In advance of a Play & Learn or Taster Day, parents are asked to complete an Application Form and pay an application fee of £50.
Offer of a Place to Join Prep
Following the Taster Day or Play and Learn session, feedback is given, and if both parties are happy an offer will be made.
Places are confirmed upon receipt of the Acceptance Form and accompanying fee.
Details of fees are listed on the Fees
*The reservation fee is refundable on the completion of the child’s education at the School.
Following reservation of a place in Prep, the Bursar will issue contracts and further information.
What are the options available after Prep?
Entry to Seniors is seen as a natural progression for children within the School.
