Birkenhead School Chef, Rob, Wins Senior Chef of the Year Bronze in Prestigious Ireland Competition

Our School community is delighted to celebrate School Chef Rob, who has earned an impressive Bronze in the Senior Chef of the Year category at the renowned Compass Chef of the Year competition, held this year in Ireland.

The event brought together some of the most talented chefs from across Compass Group’s culinary sectors, each showcasing exceptional skill, creativity, and composure under pressure. Representing our school with pride, Rob rose to the challenge magnificently.

In the Senior category, competitors were tasked with creating a full three-course menu in just 2.5 hours, working from a “mystery box” of ingredients revealed only at the start of the challenge. The brief pushed chefs to demonstrate versatility and innovation:

A plant-forward starter, a seasonally inspired main course, and a dessert featuring both a hot and cold element.

Rob’s performance demonstrated not only technical excellence, but also his flair for fresh, thoughtful, and beautifully balanced dishes — qualities we are lucky to enjoy in our school dining every day.

We are incredibly proud of Rob for this outstanding achievement. His dedication, creativity, and passion for food continue to enrich our school community, and this accolade is truly well earned.
