Beyond Birkenhead

Sunday Times Schools Guide 2025 - Independent Secondary School of the Year North West

Mentoring and Leadership

We encourage students to play an active role in contributing to the life of the School and the wider community, through programmes such as Peer Mentoring, Academic Mentoring and other leadership activities.

The ‘Beyond Birkenhead’ programme in the Sixth Form is tailored to equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand and manage difficult situations.  Students learn how to recognise and manage risk, make safer choices and recognise when pressure from others may threaten their personal safety and wellbeing.  They can also learn effective ways of resisting pressure and where to seek help.

Topics covered through the Sixth Form programme include:

  • Mental Health
  • Study Skills
  • Bullying
  • Equality & Human Rights
  • Relationships
  • Political & Global Issues
  • UCAS Applications
